"Birth"

This original painting is the first of a series of three, called ‘Birth, Life, Death’. It was inspired by the life of one of my dearest friends. They reflect the spiritual transitions of her story. This one depicts the sweet quiet stillness that comes just after being born. The hush that comes, as the soft, spiritual blanket of Love is laid across this new life.

Life

This original painting was inspired by the bright, vibrant life of my dear friend. It is part two of a three part series called Birth, Life, Death. The bright ribbons, like youth, explodes in a dance of discovery. The glow of light is the energy of life lived to its fullest. This painting reflects the spiritual transitions of life, our story, from beginning to end.

First Day

This is the first in a series of 6 original paintings. My interpretation of Day one shows the separation of light from darkness. Earth was a formless dark mass and light penetrated it. Night and day was created. The different egg like shapes are the first cells of life being formed in different stages of maturity. The red cord in the middle of it all is God. If all 6 paintings are hung together you can see how the red cord of God ends at one painting and starts in the same place at the next like a continual thread.

Second Day

The second day painting shows my interpretation of the waters in the formless mass being separated from the water above it. The red cord is God, and you see the strong undulating motion of Him separating and pushing the waters to create sky.

Third Day

The third day painting shows my interpretation of land and sea being formed. The land was to produce seed bearing plants and trees and fruit. As in all the paintings in the series, God is in the midst of it. This time He comes in the form of a red vine or tree with pregnant, round leaves filled with seeds. He is the vine, we are the branches. The vine is depicted sideways with the branches in the shape of the cross, as a precursor to the coming of The Savior.

"Easter Morning"

To tell the Easter story I chose the ewe and her lambs which to me, represent new life and unconditional Love. The soft gentle sunrise is the celebration of a new and glorious day heralding the beginning of forever. The faint light beam in the shape of the cross falling over the lambs is The Lamb of God, bathing them with the offer of Eternal Life.

"Easter Joy"

Easter makes me feel so full of life, I couldn't resist using bright happy colors beneath the frothy whimsy of the sheep family.

"Birth of Christ"

This birth of Christ painting expresses the symbolic image of the Perfect God. Mary, reflects The Mother Love of God, expressed by the tender covering of her family, with the blanket of righteousness. Joseph is the image of God the Father, expressed by the loving, protective manner in which he holds his Son to his chest. The baby is Jesus, totally turned into his Father for ultimate reliance. The sheep, represents The lamb of God, which is a foreshadowing of the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross for all mankind.

"Singapore River"

I painted this when I was a newly wed and we lived in Singapore. I was inspired by the wonderful sunsets on the river though in the early 70's there were many cardboard or wooden shanties or shacks lining the edge of the river. They had a delicate beauty about them at sunset as the poverty of the area was washed away by the brilliant light. Everything in the tropics is more exotic and colorful! .....even our marriage :)

"Zechariah"

This painting is set just after Zechariah the priest, in shock and disbelief, is visited by an angel in the temple; who tells him his wife Elizabeth who was old and barren, will give birth to a son ( John the Baptist). Elizabeth is a relative of Mary, mother of Jesus.

"The Quiet After the Birth"

Joseph is sleeping, exhausted from the last twenty four hours. Mary is gazing at her miracle who has just entered the world, awed at the enormity of the birth of this baby, and Jesus, the baby, Son of God, who has entered the world....also sleeping peacefully.

"A mother's utmost grief"

Mary weeps at the foot of the cross where her son and Messiah, Jesus, moments ago was crucified. John, the disciple standing beside her, has just been told by Jesus in his last moments, to take care of his mother. John holds his garment as is to fold Mary into his life.

"The Resurrection"

Mary Magdalene, weeping, in shock, suddenly recognizes Jesus who she believed was dead and buried. She reaches up to touch him. He holds up his hand to stop her touching him - "I have not yet returned to the Father" he says.
